The Emerald Speed Fest is a motorsport and motoring lifestyle event that will take place at the Emerald Resort and Casino in Vanderbijlpark. The event, presented by Messe Frankfurt South Africa, takes place on the 28th and 29th of September 2019.

High-performance race cars, modern road-cars, historic race cars and supercars will compete in a time challenge along a 1.6km (1 mile) strip of tar at the Vaal Resort. The event will offer competitors a challenging high-speed run competing, in classes, for a variety of prizes totaling close to half a million rand in value. The overall winner of the “Master of the Mile” will win a trip for two to the Ceasars Palace Las Vegas Hotel and Casino and take home the unique Master of the Mile Trophy. “The prizes on offer make this event the richest motorsport event in Africa” commented Shaun Swart, Head of Business Development for show organizers Messe Frankfurt South Africa. “We are proud to be partnering with local motorsport personalities Pim Pieterse, Larry Wilford and Terry Wilford on this exciting new event” added Swart.

Spectators will witness these high-performance road and race cars in action as well as also enjoy a variety of displays and refreshments. The pit area will be open to the public. Classic Car displays as well as motoring and motorsport related exhibitors will add to the excitement of the event. Visitors will also benefit from the family orientated features and attractions Emerald Resort has to offer.

“The smell of high octane and roar of super charged engines! We’re looking forward to our first ever Emerald Speed Fest and the accompanying adrenaline rush as high-performance race cars, supercars and modern road cars race to beat the clock on our 1,6km winding asphalt strip,” says Mark Hands, Resort Director at Emerald Resort & Casino. “Adventure ranks highly on our agenda all year round and this event definitely fits the bill!” added Hands.

Interest from local competitors to enter the event has been high with numerous high-profile entries expected. An announcement will be made once formalities regarding approvals have been finalized. “We are working with Motorsport South Africa in order to ensure that all the relevant safety standards are met for this exciting event. Safety for both the spectators and competitors is of paramount importance and the support of MSA vital for any motorsport related events” added Competition Manager for the event, Denis Klopper.
